Graduate Application Materials Assistance (GAMA) Program
The Graduate Application Materials Assistance (GAMA) Program aims to provide
prospective students assistance with the application materials required to apply to the
UCSB Geography graduate program. GAMA is an entirely student-led program and is
specifically designed to provide feedback on the Statement of Purpose and the
Personal Achievements / Contributions Statement. GAMA intends to provide feedback
to students from historically underrepresented groups in higher education. We strongly
encourage students from diverse backgrounds to apply to the program. This includes
but is not limited to individuals who identify as first-generation college students, BIPOC,
LGBTQ+, international students, individuals with disabilities, and individuals from
low-income backgrounds.
Participating in GAMA is an entirely voluntary process and is separate from the official
admissions process. GAMA does not guarantee or increase the applicant’s chances of
being admitted to the UCSB Geography graduate program. Due to the high volume of
application materials to review, we can guarantee only one round of meaningful
feedback.
Before sending your application materials
We strongly recommend reviewing the guidelines for the Statement of Purpose and
Personal Achievements/ Contributions Statement to maximize the benefits of this
program. Applicants are advised to read all the fields in the Google form carefully.
