Jorge Chen, who earned his PhD in the Fall of 2017, attended a joint conference called Geo Delft 2018 at TU Delft in the Netherlands from September 30th to October 5th, 2018. He presented one paper dealing with indoor point cloud analysis at 3DGeoInfo 2018 and another on semantic levels of detail for indoor mapping at the 2018 Smart Data and Smart Cities (SDSC) conference. The SDSC paper was a finalist for best paper and presentation! Both papers have been published in the September issues of the ISPRS Annals of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences.
Separately, Jorge was awarded the 2018 Robert F. Futrell Award for Excellence in Historical Publications by the U.S. Air Force earlier this year. This was for a special study he did on Air Force Reserve Civil Engineer S-Teams as part of my military service in the Air Force Reserve. Congratulations Jorge!
