Foresight is a five-year award of $20 million by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to explore approaches for anticipating and mitigating national security risks associated with climate change.

IEEE VAST Challenge 2015 is project Wei is involved in 2015 summer. The role of Wei is to design visualization techniques to address the challenge 2 and grand challenge.

GeoSocialApp is an independent project that Wei developed and lead in GeoVISTA center. The goal of this project is to develop geo-social visual analytic tool to explore geo-social network data from spatial, network, and attribute spaces simultaneously. The next step of this project is to allow the exploration of temporal data. The final goal of this project is to 'bridge the gap' between data exploration and prediction analysis which is a major problem in current GIS and visual analytic tools.

SensenPlace2 supports overview and detail maps of tweets, place-time-attribute filtering of tweets, and analysis of changing issues and perspectives over time and across space as reflected in tweets. Wei lead the current major task: the entity extraction, overview, drill-down, and dynamic connection advances to support analysis focused on understanding place-related social networks.

STemporal aims to develop innovative statistical procedures for deriving patterns at multiple spatial and temporal scales, closely integrated with interactive visualization capabilities that are also tailored to pattern discovery and analysis. Wei works on the front-end: interface implementation.

Gates Foundation: Evaluation of Candidate Vaccine Technologies Using Computational Models is the first project in which Wei is involved in GeoVISTA center. The goal of this project is to create computational models and simulations that will help guide the development of new vaccine technologies and epidemic control strategies to stop the spread of infectious diseases. Wei's work is to develop epidemic models to understand disease transmission in England and Niger, as well as accessibility models to understand the impact of roads on human accessibility to hospital, in order to help decision-makers to figure out what is the best way to imporve livelihood in African countries such as Niger.

CrimeViz is an extensible web-based map application that supports exploration of and sensemaking about criminal activity in space and time., and attribute spaces simultaneously. The next step of this project is to allow the exploration of temp.  Wei works on the user study design.

PSUMobile project is initiated by Krzysztof Janowicz. Wei became one of the first members in the development team for VGS (volunteered geographic service) on android platform. The project involves GoogleMaps API (for Android), server-client communication and linked database. Wei's work focuses on servlet API for the server-client communication. The java codes are avialable on SourceForge

IEEE VAST Challenge 2011 is another project Wei is involved in 2011 summer. The role of Wei is to use network data representation, analysis, and visualilzation techniques to address the challenge 1 and 3.
