Geography Ph.D. Candidate (anticipated 2015)
M.Sc. University of Alberta, Canada, Soil Science
B.Sc. Zhejiang University, China, Biological Sciences

Yang is a Ph.D. candidate, originally from China. He is broadly interested in biogeochemistry and climate change.

Yang's Ph.D. research is focused on photodegradation and litter decomposition. He is investigating the mechanistic controls on these processes through experiments in the laboratory and field at the UC Sedgwick Reserve.

Geography M.A./Ph.D. Student
B.S.Sc. The Chinese University of Hong Kong,
Geography and Resource Management

Frank's interests include terrestrial biogeochemistry, especially nutrient cycling and greenhouse gas fluxes from wetland ecosystems.

He is currently seeking the opportunity to integrate field studies with the art and science of remote sensing in order to better understand the physical component of our environment.

McNair Scholar
Undergraduate Researcher
B.S Environmental Studies, Minor in Chemistry
(anticipated 2015)

Rachel is an undergraduate student at UCSB conducting an independent research project concerning the use of reclaimed water on soils.

Her interests include environmental sustainability in urban settings.

Junior Specialist
B.S. Physical Geography 2012

Keri received a Bachelor's degree in Geography from UCSB in 2012 and is currently working in Dr. Kings Biogeochemistry lab as a manager and technician.

She is looking to pursue a graduate degree in Earth Science focusing on natural hazards and hydrology.

Photo Tom Tran
Junior Specialist
B.S. Environmental Studies and Geography 2014

Tom is currently assisting in two research projects, direct and indirect effects of photodegradation on plant litter as well as soil carbon and nitrogen variability in a Mediterranean grassland environment.

He is widely interested in Earth's formative processes and spatial scale for modeling and representing the environment.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
B.S. Physical Geography, Minor Earth Science
(anticipated 2015)

Scott presently assists graduate student Michelle Oyewole in measuring trace gas emissions from agricultural ecosystems.

He is interested in pursuing graduate level education in the fields of hydrology, geomaterials, mining, agriculture, remote sensing and GIS.
