I'm a fifth year PhD candidate, developing a theoretical foundation for extending geographic information system (GIS) data models to meet the particular requirements of historical scholarship and learning. For me, theory and practice are inseparable, so I'm building one—an historical GIS that is—capable of supporting a new class of digital historical atlas.

My doctoral research is supervised by Dr. Michael F. Goodchild.

My dissertation is tentatively titled “Modeling Historical Knowledge in Geographic Information Systems.” I am also an experienced designer/developer of web software and instructional material, with extensive professional experience in several aspects of computing, including databases, graphical communication and networks.
