I'm Bo Yan, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Geography at University of California, Santa Barbara. I work in the Spatial Temporal Knowledge Observatory (STKO) Lab under the supervision of Prof. Krzysztof Janowicz. Our lab focuses on the role of space and time for knowledge representation and the semantic aspects of geographic information. My research interests include: geospatial knowledge discovery, geospatial semantics, geo knowledge graph, geospatial entity summarization & relevance detection, spatial statistics/analytics, POI conflation, geographic information retrieval, spatial data mining, Linked Data, Semantic Web, geovisualization, and cartography. By exploiting statistical and machine learning models, I'm trying to discover new patterns and solve geographic information science questions from a new perspective.
If you want to discuss about research topics or simply get in touch, please don't hesitate to send me an email. I'm looking forward to potential future collaborations.
May. 2017: I will be working as a research engineer intern in HERE Technologies in their CTO research team at Berkeley during the summer.
